Minions Appreciation Post - Season 5
I hope I got everyone - if I missed someone, please let me know :).
Jessica from Columbia, Kati and Penelope from Constance.
I included Ivy because she took Nelly Yuki’s place in the Blair’s competition in 5.06. Also, because Ivy is kind of like Season 1 Jenny Humphrey.
I’ve put Lola in because she participated in Blair’s scheme in 5.23, but yup, she wasn’t really a minion. xD

I’ve been thinking about this parallel for a while, and I was inspired by some of signaturescarf’s ideas.
Notably, both girls are enthralled by the shiny and sparkly of the UES (namely the Waldorf penthouse - I wanted to gif Ivy looking at the Chanel perfumes, but the gif came out kind of odd xD). (1.05, 4.18). Both girls receive advice/pep talks from Blair herself. (2.25, 5.03). Both girls win Blair’s respect to a degree. Blair is impressed by Jenny and sees potential in her (1.05). Blair is impressed that Ivy has completed all of her minion tasks (5.06). Both girls are BAMFs (1.05, 5.09). They both have ‘Cinderella’ moments - Jenny while being a handmaiden for Blair (1.06), and Ivy when Serena calls ahead for her to model at the Jenny Packham show (5.03).
I like Ivy, but I really miss season 1 Jenny, and nothing can replace her, or her relationship with Blair. This is the season of cheap imitations, mostly.
Ha, this is perfect, you covered everything! Obviously they had to do this all over since Jenny disappeared but it’s so obvious how the parallels pale in comparison and just make me miss her more. Ivy’s simply not an iconic character the way Jenny (and the original characters) were built.
As usual Blair is the gatekeeper to officially achieving UES status. Notice how she didn’t really give either a shot at friendship, just begrudging respect. But will Ivy be her next mortal enemy? No time for that probably.
